KEEP THIS IN MIND
Unit dimensions, access routes and the way you pack can change what fits. Treat size comparisons as a starting point and ask the facility team when in doubt.
Tools, consumables and spare parts are easier to manage when they have a fixed home outside the van. The best setup supports quick collection in the morning and a simple return at the end of the day.
Store by job type
Group electrical, plumbing, decorating and general equipment separately. Use sturdy shelving for cases and labelled bins for smaller parts. Keep heavy items low and never stack unstable machinery.

Protect access and batteries
Leave a clear route to frequently used kits and follow manufacturer guidance for batteries and powered equipment. Fuel, gas cylinders and other prohibited materials must not be stored in a unit.
Keep the unit accountable
A simple sign-out sheet or shared inventory helps small teams know what has left the unit. Review damaged tools and low consumables weekly so the space remains useful rather than becoming a holding area.
