Choosing a unit is easier when you start with what you need to store, not a number of square feet. Make a simple list, note the largest items and decide how often you will need to reach them.
Start with the largest items
A sofa, dining table, mattress or commercial shelving usually determines the footprint. Measure those pieces first, then add sealed boxes around them. Leave a narrow aisle if you expect to visit the unit regularly.
Use familiar room comparisons
A 25 sq ft unit can hold the contents of a compact studio or student room. Around 50 sq ft suits many one-bedroom flats, while 75–100 sq ft is a practical starting point for a two-bedroom move. These are guides, not guarantees.
Ask before you overbook
